RCx427 Rust Converter

RCx427 Rust Converter Primer is a premium product designed for professional use, but now available to the public. It is a latex acrylic based rust conversion primer that converts the rust (iron oxide) into a hard impervious coating that resists further rusting.  The rust paint is a blend of chemicals and fillers allows the formulation to block air (oxygen) and moisture from reaching the previously rusted areas, thus stopping further rusting.

RCx427 Rust Converter Primer is perfect for rusted car frames, wrought iron fences, light posts, trailer hitches, farm implements, military operations and many more.  Designed to apply like a latex paint and is easy to apply.  Simply use a common bristle brush, roller, foam brush, spray or other similar methods.

The RCx427 Rust Converter is a perfect product when removing rust is difficult to do or not absolutely necessary. For example; wrought iron railings, undersides of vehicles, farm implements, construction equipment and other rusted objects.

Designed to be painted directly over rust, just insure that any loose rust is removed using wire brush, etc.

RCx427 Provides a Positive Barrier to STOP Rusting

Rust is formed by a reaction of water in the presence of air (oxygen) on iron surfaces. Our RCx427 converts existing rust to a hard surface and eliminates further rust growth by:

• Chemically converting existing rust to an oxide complex that permanently stops further rusting
• Provides an oxygen barrier to prevent oxygen from reaching the steel/iron
• Provides additional protection by forming an impervious water barrier

Application:

• Apply to dry and oil/grease contaminated surfaces at temperatures above 60 F for best results
• Avoid applying RCx427 Rust Converter in direct sunlight
• Wash surface to be converted with a good quality detergent to remove any contaminants such as salt, oils, greases, dirt, etc.
• If outdoors, protect from rain for 24 hours
• RCx427 Rust Converter can be applied with any paint applicators including brushes, foam pads, rollers, cloth, sponge or sprayers
• It is best to use a stiff brush or rag wipe to penetrate rough surfaces.
• The covered areas will start to darken soon after application and should be ready to finish in 4-6 hours
• RCx427 Rust Converter will continue to convert rust for up to 1-week after application
• If the surface is not sufficiently smooth after drying, light sand is permissible and recoat any areas that the coating was penetrated to bare metal
• Ensure that there are no pin holes in RCx427 Rust Conversion coating, recoat if necessary
• Re-Brush any drips or puddle areas before drying to ensure even coating
• Apply RCx-427 Rust Converter in light coats, use two coats if necessary to completely cover rust
• It is recommended to top-coat RCx-427 with quality paint

Remove Rust from Skid Steer Canopy

1. Picture of Severely rusted Skid Steer Canopy.  Note the blistering of paint and rust.

2. thoroughly scrape off the blisters and wire brush off any of the loose paint.  Also scrape back the good paint about 1/8" into the good steel.

3. Paint the scraped rust using a paint brush, roller, or spray.  We prefer foam brushes, they are inexpensive and you don't have to clean them up- toss them.

4. Picture of first coat.  It is recommended that rough rusted surfaces should get 2 coats of the RCx427 Rust Conversion Primer.

Ensure that all rust is covered and the converter is pushed into the crevasses or joints as much as possible.
